There and Back Again | Part 40

Genesis 31 - Trust God, Not Yourself

Jesus Destroys Victimhood

  • The gospel reminds us that what happened to us does not have the final word... Jesus does!
  • We are not defined by what was done to us but by what Christ has done for us. — 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • Our past may be part of our story, but in Christ, it does not get to write our ending.

Victimhood Versus The Gospel

What happened to me defines me.
The Gospel Says
What Christ has done defines me. — 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20

Victimhood Says
My past determines my future.
The Gospel Says

Victimhood Says
They took something from me so I can never be whole.
The Gospel Says

Victimhood Says
Everyone is against me.
The Gospel Says
If God is for me, who can be against me. — Romans 8:31

My wound gives me permission to remain stuck
