Love God.
Our
Grandfathers
Love God.
Follow Jesus.
Depend on the spirit.
In the New Testament, the Greek word "presbyteros" refers to an older or mature man and is commonly translated "elder." This word carries the picture of age, wisdom, and maturity; what we might affectionately call the "gray-headed men" among us.
At Refuge, we have chosen the name Grandfathers for these men because it beautifully describes the role we desire them to have in our church family. Like faithful grandfathers in a family, they are seasoned men of God who offer wisdom, prayer, spiritual counsel, encouragement and care. They walk alongside our pastors and church family, helping us remain grounded in Scripture and faithful to the mission God has given Refuge.
They aren't simply men who hold a position, they are men whose lives have demonstrated a faithful pursuit of Jesus and who shepherd, strengthen, and encourage the generations coming behind them. We are honored to have these men serving as Grandfathers at Refuge.
