The Context
- God set His hand upon Abraham and created a nation for Himself: Israel.
- Throughout their history, the Israelites became stiff-necked and stubborn. They didn't want to be under the thumb of Rome. They were awaiting their Messiah.
- Israel had become an island to themselves, but God's plan was to display His glory in His chosen people to bless all nations.

- Simon and Andrew were simple fishermen when Jesus called them into ministry.
- Simon would become Peter, the leader of the New Testament church of Jesus Christ.
- Andrew would become the patron saint of three entire countries.
