Higher Calling — Luke 10:38-42

  • You know you have a problem when you're telling Jesus what to do. — Luke 10:40
  • Hospitality is good. In fact, it's commanded in the Bible. — 1 Peter 4:9; Hebrews 13:2; Romans 12:13
  • Hospitality is temporary. Following Jesus is a weightier matter that has eternal rewards. — Luke 10:42; Matthew 23:23-24

When "Good" Isn't "Good" Anymore — Numbers 21:4-9; 2 Kings 18:1-4

  • The Bronze Serpent Moses was commanded to make in the wilderness had the purpose of "pointing to Jesus the Messiah." — John 3:14-15
  • Idolatry is when "good" things become more important than "God" things... aka "following Jesus." — Exodus 20:3
  • Heaven is not a place for "good" people. It's a place for "God's" people. Following Jesus is much more than being involved in "good deed." — Matthew 7:21-23
