Wayfinders is being created from a simple conviction: we want to do everything we can to welcome and serve every child God brings through the doors of Refuge.

Some incredibly special kids experience the world a little differently and may thrive with additional support, a quieter environment, sensory opportunities, individualized attention, or simply a safe place to take a break.

Wayfinders is being thoughtfully designed with those children—and their families—in mind.

We want families of children with additional needs to know they don't have to wonder, "Will there be a place for my child?"

Our desire is to listen first.

We want to learn about your child: what brings them joy, what helps them feel safe, how they communicate, what may overwhelm them, and how we can best help them experience church.

Most importantly, we want every child to be lovingly pointed toward the Gospel of Jesus in a way they can understand and experience.

The Wayfinders space is currently in development and will include thoughtful elements such as:

-Sensory stations and activities
-Calmer spaces for children who need a break from stimulation
-Opportunities for movement
-Developmentally appropriate Bible learning
-Individualized support when possible
-A safe, welcoming environment
-Serve Team members who desire to know and care for each child personally

Our goal is not simply to create another classroom.

Our goal is to remove barriers that might keep a child or family from experiencing the love of Jesus and the community of His Church.

Every child has value.
Every child can be loved well.
Every family should know there is a place for them.
And every child deserves the opportunity to hear about Jesus.

We're carefully preparing this ministry and can't wait to share more about its official launch, along with future events for families of children with additional needs.
