In the Beginning, God
- The Bible does not begin with man reaching toward God. It begins with God who exists before all things.
- God does not "make" but rather "creates" out of nothing.
- This separates Him from the gods of Egypt (Horus, Ra, etc.) and the Canaanite gods of the promised land (Marduk, Baal, etc.)
- This is why the greatest commandment is to Love God — Deutoronomy 6:4-5; Matthew 22:34-40
- This is why He alone is worthy of our worship. — Romans 1:18-25
Everything God Creates Is Good
- Size times God looks at what He creates and declares, "it was good." — Genesis 1:4; 10; 12; 18; 21; 25
- A 7th time after He creates mankind He declares, "it was very good." — Genesis 1:31
Creation, Devastation, and New Beginnings
Over the next several weeks we are going to see Adam and Eve, Cain, and Noah and his sons all devastate God's good creation.
Each time we will see God respond in His grace re-creating a good new beginning for His people. He still does this today for us!
Need a fresh start? You are in the right place! — Romans 6:4; Isaiah 43:19; Lamentations 3:22-23; Revelation 21:5
