God Does Not Need Our Money
- God owns everything, and every blessing we have comes from His hand. — Psalm 50:10-12; James 1:17
- In the Old Testament, tithes and offerings supported the worship of God's people and cared for those in need.
- Today, while our taxes fund the services of our communities, the ministry of the local church is supported by the faithful giving of God's people.
- When we give, we are not meeting a need that God cannot supply; rather, we are responding to His grace with grateful and willing hearts.
- Giving is an act of worship that acknowledges God as the true owner of all we possess. — Psalm 24:1; Proverbs 3:9-10
- It is an expression of our trust that He will continue to provide for our needs. — Matthew 6:31-33; Philippians 4:19
- It is also an investment in God's eternal kingdom, enabling the preaching of the gospel, the making of disciples, the care of those in need, and the strengthening of Christ's church. — Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:44-47; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
- Most importantly, our generosity reflects the heart of God Himself, who did not withhold His own Son but freely gave Him for our salvation. — Romans 8:32; John 3:16
- As we give cheerfully and sacrificially, we declare that our treasure is not found in earthly possessions but in Christ, "for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:21
