The Curse of Sin
To The Woman — Genesis 3:16
- The curse strikes at the greatest honor given by God to the woman... continuing human life on planet earth.
- This honor now comes with great pain. Yet, it is through this pain that salvation (the birth of Christ) comes to humanity. — Genesis 3:15; I Timothy 2:15
- Further, the desire of the woman will be to usurp the role that God gave to her husband. However, God's role of headship will continue to belong to man. — I Corinthians 11:3; Ephesians 5:21
To The Man — Genesis 3:17
Man's curse also strikes at the heart of the greatest honor given him... his strength to work and provide.
Note... work itself is not cursed, but the ground is cursed and now provides thorns and thistles to hinder man's work.
Creation itself still groans under the curse man's sin brought upon it. — Romans 8:21-22
